📢 FEBS Young Scientists’ Forum (YSF) 2025 – An event organised for and by young scientists The Young Scientists’ Forum (YSF) aims to be an event where all attendees discover something of interest to their careers. Multidisciplinarity and diversity are at the core of this mission, and these values are reflected in its Organizing Committee, which is composed of five scientists from Türkiye, the host of YSF 2025. Atakan and Duygu serve as co-chairs of the YSF 2025 Organizing Committee: · H. Atakan Ekiz, PhD, MSc Asst. Prof. at the Izmir Institute of Technology leads a lab focused on the role of noncoding RNAs in tumor immunity and is developing visual data analysis interfaces to enhance high-throughput data analysis. · Duygu Harmanci Karagülle, PhD, is affiliated with NHP Pharma Inc., also in Izmir, and specializes in the extracellular matrix, miRNAs, and biosensors, contributing her expertise to the pharmaceutical development of health products. The YSF 2025 Organizing Committee also includes: · Burak Barut Assoc. Prof. at Karadeniz Technical University, who investigates photodynamic therapy using novel photosensitizers. · Öykü GÖNÜL GEYİK, PhD Asst. Prof. at Istinye University, who studies anticancer drug resistance mechanisms related to tumor heterogeneity. Öykü also serves as the Junior Section representative from the Turkish Biochemical Society. · Erhan Canbay, PhD, from Ege University, who focuses on bioanalytical method development including electrochemical biosensors and LC-MS/MS techniques. The work of the YSF Organising Committee is supported by the members of the FEBS Careers of Young Scientists Committee: Prof. Irene Díaz-Moreno (Spain; Chair of the Committee), Vlastimil Kulda (Czeck Republic), and Anna Jagusiak (Poland). Last week marked a historic moment for the FEBS Junior Section! We attended our first-ever in-person meeting in Pula, Croatia and it was an unforgettable experience! 🌟 What a week! We kicked things off by exploring the beautiful and majestic city of Pula, nestled in the stunning region of Istria. Then, we dedicated a full day to the Junior Section — sharing updates, discussing the structure and activities of FEBS JS and National Junior Sections and diving into important topics like our future goals, key initiatives and collaboration with National Junior Sections and FEBS.
