  • DHA sent a letter this week to outgoing Governor John Carney urging him NOT to nominate members of the HB 350 Board in the lame-duck period of his administration. With pending litigation and ongoing discussions with the incoming administration and legislative leaders on potential changes to this problematic bill, the final shape of the law will occur under the Meyer/Gay administration. Please join us in urging Governor Carney and the Delaware Senate NOT to make lame-duck appointments to the HB 350 Board. https://buff.ly/4eXYk3L

As the holiday season approaches, Blood Bank of Delmarva is facing a severe shortage of all blood types, especially Type O, which is crucial for emergencies and trauma care. To make an appointment at a location near you, donors can go to delmarvablood.org or call 1-888-8-BLOOD-8.

  • Today, DHA issued a statement congratulating Delaware's general election winners as well as the new leadership of the Delaware House of Representatives: ____________________________________________________________________________________ DHA Statement on Delaware’s General Election Results (Dover, DE – Nov. 12, 2024) The Delaware Healthcare Association congratulates the First State’s newly elected leaders: Gov.-elect Matt Meyer, Lt. Gov.-elect Kyle Evans Gay, U.S. Rep.-elect Sarah McBride, U.S. Sen.-elect Lisa Blunt Rochester, and all of the winning state legislative candidates. “The voice of Delaware’s hospital and healthcare community was profound during the 2024 election season. We look forward to working with the Meyer administration as well as new and returning legislators whom voters have entrusted to strengthen healthcare in Delaware,” said DHA President & CEO Brian Frazee. Governor-elect Meyer was the first gubernatorial candidate to ever be endorsed by the DHA Political Action Committee. “Our hope is that they will join us in partnership to bolster Delaware’s healthcare workforce, ensure healthcare access, quality and affordability, and advance health equity, and we thank the more than 10,000 Delawareans who engaged with us in 2024 for their continued support of our collective efforts.” Frazee added it’s imperative that we work in collaboration with our new leaders on healthcare policies that will allow hospitals to build on their ranking as No. 2 in the nation for hospital quality and meet their commitment and obligation to serving their patients and our communities. DHA also congratulates the new leadership of the Delaware House of Representatives, including Speaker-elect Melissa Minor-Brown, Majority Leader Kerri Evelyn Harris, a 2024 DHA Legislator of the Year, as well as new Majority Whip Ed Osienski, new Minority Leader Tim Dukes, and new Minority Whip Jeff Spiegelman. “As a nurse and longtime healthcare leader, Speaker-elect Minor-Brown is uniquely positioned to strengthen healthcare in Delaware and we are eager for her leadership on our shared priorities around workforce, access, quality, and affordability, and health equity. DHA looks forward to working with her, the other House and Senate legislative leaders, and their caucuses on these key initiatives,” Frazee said. https://buff.ly/4hJoJ7I
