The City of Macedonia's Parks and Recreation Department just brought home its second National Gold Medal Finalist Award. That's two in a row! This prestigious award recognizes our Parks and Recreation Department as one of the top four departments in the country (for cities with populations under 30,000) for excellence in long-range planning, resource management, and innovative approaches to delivering superb park and recreation services with fiscally sound business practices. Summit Corners held a grand opening celebration yesterday of its revamped assisted living community on South Bedford Road in Macedonia. Previously known as American House, the facility is now under the ownership and management of Sonida Senior Living. The open house gave the community a chance to take tours, ask questions, and see the changes. Sonida also operates Summit Point Senior Living on Valley View Road in Macedonia. As part of the Macedonia Fire Department's annual Fire Prevention Open House this evening, our newest part-time firefighters and auxiliary members were sworn into their jobs and received their badges. We also honored Capt. Dave Chesnick and Firemedic Dave Morris with 25-year service pins and Capt. Brian Miller and Firemedic Mike Jaskolka with 15-year service pins. He was sworn into office this morning by City Council president Jessica Brandt at City Hall. The City of Macedonia is happy to welcome Julia Holt as our newest emergency dispatcher. Mayor Nick Molnar administered the oath of office this morning during a swearing-in ceremony. Julia is a Nordonia grad who also attended Kent State. She is following in the footsteps of her sister, Allison, who is also a dispatcher for the City.

This full-service fire and water restoration company has been in business in Northeast Ohio for 3 years and recently moved its main offices to Macedonia. The new B&B Theatres in Macedonia held its Grand Opening Gala this evening. Mayor Nick Molnar and other city leaders walked the red carpet before heading into the Screen X theater to learn more about this family-owned business, now in its 100th year of bringing movie magic to audiences.
