Meet Elizabeth Herwig, FNP-C! ✨ Elizabeth earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, in 2010. Following graduation, she worked as a surgical nurse in a hospital for five years. In 2015, she completed her Master's Degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. After that, she practiced in Orthopaedic Surgery in Lafayette, Indiana, where she gained experience assisting with total joint replacement and orthopaedic spine surgeries. In 2020, she received her Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner Certification. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Elizabeth chose to work in the Emergency Department as a nurse practitioner before moving to the Savannah area in 2022. She spent nearly two years in Urgent Care in Savannah before joining Chatham Orthopaedics in 2024. She is excited to return to Orthopaedics and collaborate with Dr. Ochsner and Dr. Prather to support their patients and care teams. #welcome #chathamortho #nursepractitioner

We're excited to welcome Dr. Joe Romano to the Chatham Orthopaedics team! Originally from Chicago, Dr. Romano is a highly skilled orthopaedic spine surgeon who brings top-tier expertise to Savannah. After playing football as a walk-on at the University of Notre Dame, he went on to complete his residency at Vanderbilt University and his spine surgery fellowship in Kentucky. Dr. Romano believes in exploring non-operative treatments first, but when surgery is needed, he approaches each case with the same care as if treating a family member. Outside of work, you can catch him cheering on Notre Dame, golfing, playing pickleball, or traveling. We're thrilled to announce the addition of our newest Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Michael R. Wolverton! A Savannah native, Dr. Wolverton is a board-eligible and fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in treating lower extremity injuries, with a particular focus on knee and hip arthritis. From anterior total hip replacements to robotic-assisted total joint replacements, he brings extensive expertise in both surgical and nonoperative treatments. When he's not caring for patients, you'll find Dr. Wolverton enjoying the great outdoors or cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks.
