Today we announced $3.5M in financial contributions to support nonprofit programs across the US through our fourth annual Accelerate Change Together (ACT) on Health Equity: Community Solutions Challenge and National Strategic Collaborations. These investments fund 53 programs focused on healthcare access, social determinants like housing and nutrition, culturally competent chronic disease care, and expanding STEM education for historically excluded populations. Now in its fourth year, US ACT on Health Equity contributions have surpassed $15M, advancing AstraZeneca’s goal of sustainable change toward health equity. Purpose-driven founder that helps charities and companies activate supporters and engage employees to create passionate and impactful teams and communities | App Developer | Podcast Host | Public Speaker | Marathoner
🎙 Honored to share my latest #podcast with Dr. William Dahut, the Chief Scientific Officer of the American Cancer Society. (Link in the comments, since LinkedIn likes it better that way.) In this interview, we cover a wide range of topics, including the groundbreaking research the American Cancer Society is supporting, the critical role of early cancer detection, and how lifestyle choices like diet, and exercise can significantly reduce cancer risk. Dr. Dahut is both inspiring and empowering, because he gives us an inside view for how we can all make an impact —not only by fundraising but also by living healthier lives to reduce our risk of getting cancer. After all, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Huge thanks to Dr. Dahut for his leadership and taking the time to share so much with us. Also a huge thanks to everyone at the American Cancer Society for leading the charge in the fight against cancer, and for giving us all the opportunity to be a part of it. #EveryMileMatters #EveryCancerEveryLife #GetScreened

We are thrilled to announce our impactful partnership with Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society as a part of the National Football League (NFL)’s Crucial Catch initiative. Together, we are addressing critical cancer health disparities affecting Hispanic and Caribbean populations. This collaboration will support groundbreaking research and the establishment of a new Cancer Health Equity Research Center at Sylvester. By focusing on solutions for these disparities, we are advancing the fight for health equity and making a meaningful difference in our community. Thank you Jeri Ramos, Dr. Christina Annunzita, Joanne Elena and Dr. William Dahut for joining us at Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium this Sunday to celebrate the partnership! #ACSPoweredByPartnership #EveryCancerEveryLife #OneTeamOneFight

I am pleased to share some exciting news that underscores the American Cancer Society’s commitment to health equity and community impact. We have forged a significant national partnership with Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC), aiming to tackle the critical cancer health disparities faced by Hispanic and Caribbean populations. This is an area that we are thrilled to incorporate into our ACS research portfolio. Through this partnership, DCC will contribute $4 million to support groundbreaking research and the establishment of a new Cancer Health Equity Research Center (CHERC) at the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. This work will focus on developing solutions that address health disparities in the Latinx community, ultimately driving progress toward greater health equity. #ACSPoweredByPartnership #everycancereverylife

Where people are born, grow up, live, work, worship, and age, have a profound effect on their health status and their ability to access cancer care and to carry out care recommendations. Your donation helps fund our Cancer Health Equity Research Centers (CHERC) which help address the root causes of cancer health inequities in local communities. Earlier this year, a special “Secret Lair” limited-edition set of cards was leased for “Magic: The Gathering,” a collectible card game, to help support the American Cancer Society. This collaboration raised a gift of $2.1 million, and it is the largest fan-driven gift for Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro and is the largest Secret Lair charitable donation. Words cannot express our gratitude to the fan community. This gift will help advance the American Cancer Society’s vision of ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.

Lung cancer is the 3rd most common cancer, yet it has one of the lowest screening rates, often leading to later-stage diagnoses when survival rates are lower and treatment options become more intensive and costly. This #LungCancerAwarenessMonth, we're spotlighting opportunities to improve these outcomes. In response to the American Cancer Society’s 2023 updates to lung cancer screening guidelines, Color and the ACS launched a free, nationwide program designed to guide individuals through the new criteria and offer support throughout their screening journey. Launched last year, the program simplifies the screening process by managing all logistical steps from physician orders to finding and booking appointments at local clinics to assisting with next steps if abnormalities are detected. In our latest blog, we dive into insights from this collaboration and what lies ahead in the effort to close critical screening gaps: https://lnkd.in/ew3YB975
