In my experience in the auto components business dealing with OEM customer , I have always adhered to the following principle: 1) If you are going to fail in a commitment, inform reasonably before the deadline. This will give them sufficient time to alter their plans. 2)Be transparent. Tell them why you failed . Surprisingly you will find that most customers are willing to help and support if they are convinced that you are being open.
