When grant objectives change mid-project, it can be challenging to adapt while respecting the needs of both the funding agency and the community we serve. I focus on understanding the implications of these changes and engage in open dialogue with the funding agency to clarify expectations and explore potential solutions. By advocating for a win-win approach, I seek meaningful solutions that align both parties' objectives, which may involve adjusting project activities or timelines. Through collaboration and clear communication, we can effectively navigate these shifts while remaining committed to delivering impactful outcomes for the community.

When grant objectives change mid-project, adaptability and clear communication are essential. Start by understanding the new objectives, assessing their impact on timelines, resources, and deliverables. Engage with stakeholders to clarify expectations and align everyone on the revised goals. Adjust the project plan accordingly, ensuring feasibility within the remaining time and budget, and propose alternatives if necessary. Document all changes for accountability and focus on tasks that align with the updated objectives to maintain the project's overall purpose. By staying flexible and proactive, you can navigate the shift effectively while preserving trust and credibility with the grant provider.

In my perspective and my personal experience, when in the middle of a project there is a change, the first thing I do is communicate this to the work team, explain clearly why this happened, and then together find the most effective strategy. In government this often happens and we respond to this positively, it will certainly require a creative, effective and efficient way of working while still prioritizing work professionalism.
