As pioneers in cancer care, we cannot stress enough on the importance of early detection. Recent studies show that less than 1% women in India get themselves screened for cancer, magnifying the need for awareness on screening and early detection. Empowering women is at the heart of building stronger, more resilient communities. When women have the tools and opportunities to lead, they don't just uplift themselves—they transform the lives around them. The Lakhpati Kisan initiative implemented by the Collective for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives (CInI), supported by Tata Trusts, exemplifies this by empowering women-led institutions. As Mr Ganesh Neelam, Executive Director of CInI says, “We undertake measures like capacity building, member empowerment and leadership development. We work with self-help groups and apex institutions like farmer producer organisations and federations. Reinforcing community institutions is vital to upholding the key drivers of change being implemented.” Through such efforts, women are encouraged to adopt new strategies and technologies, securing livelihoods for many.
