“Martha, alone, has changed the face, future and culture of Penneys Waterford forever." Martha is a 21-year-old who works in Penneys in Waterford and she is a member of the Waterford South Kilkenny branch. “I look forward to going into work every week and I love the fashion and make up.” Emma works in Penneys with Martha and has told us about the major impact Martha has made in her time working at the shop. “One day, in the fitting rooms there was a mother who had her newborn baby in a pram. This lady was crying. When asked if she was okay, she said they were happy tears as her baby had Down syndrome and she can see her future here looking at Martha and how amazing she is doing." With the date of the General Election officially announced for November 29th, adults with Down syndrome are entitled to vote so it is important to register if you have not voted before. Check out the Easy Read documents on how to register and about the general election below.
🗳️The General Election will take place on Friday 29th of November. It is your right to vote. If you don’t vote, then you don’t have a say in who the TDs are. That means you don’t have a say in healthcare, social welfare, the law, education, employment and many more areas. On the 29th of November choose someone who you think will work hard on your behalf. If you or someone you support would like to know more about how to vote you can access our Easy to Read Guide to Voting on our website here: https://lnkd.in/evrNdqx7

“Sharon Horgan is really amazing to work with – she is really funny, and she helped me with my lines.” Member of the Kildare Branch and NAC, Conor O’Donnell, is starring in the upcoming second season of the incredibly popular series, Bad Sisters. The actor, who plays Michael in the dark comedy, has shared his experience of working with the talented cast on the hit show. Though the 21-year-old admits he can't reveal much about season two due to an NDA, he was happy to share inside secrets from behind the scenes. “I was over 18 for the filming of series two, so I got to hang out more with the adult actors in the green room. They were really inclusive, and I had a great laugh travelling to and from the set with them!” Catch Conor on Bad Sisters on Apple TV+ on November 13th.
